About Gudi Padwa(उत्सव माहिती)

Gudi Padwa is the Marathi New Year celebrated with immense joy and enthusiasm across Maharashtra. It marks the first day of the Chaitra month and the start of the Shalivahana Shaka era. Families hoist a decorative Gudi flag at their windows or entrances, draw colorful rangoli, and prepare sweet delicacies like Puran Poli and Shrikhand to welcome prosperity and health.
History: Gudi Padwa signifies the crowning of Lord Rama after his return to Ayodhya, and also represents the day Lord Brahma created the universe. Historically, the Gudi represents the victory of King Shalivahana over the Sakas, serving as a symbol of victory and good fortune.
Significance: It is one of the three and a half highly auspicious days (Sade Teen Muhurta) in the Hindu calendar. People start new businesses, buy gold, or perform housewarming ceremonies on this day.
