About Akshaya Tritiya(उत्सव माहिती)
Akshaya Tritiya is that one day in the year when everything feels possible. The word 'Akshaya' means something that never diminishes, and that's exactly the spirit of this day. In Maharashtra, it's a time for prosperity and new beginnings. You'll see families heading to jewelry stores to buy a small piece of gold for good luck, and traders opening their fresh 'Halkhata' ledgers with a prayer. It's a day rooted in the belief that whatever good you start today will stay with you forever.
History: Legend states that Lord Ganesha began writing the epic Mahabharata on this day at the request of Sage Vyasa. It is also believed to be the day when Goddess Ganga descended from heaven to earth. In Maharashtra, the day holds ancestral value as the beginning of many agricultural cycles and is historically recognized as an 'Abujh Muhurat' (unendingly auspicious timing).
Significance: Akshaya Tritiya is synonymous with prosperity. In Maharashtra, buying gold or silver on this day is believed to bring lasting wealth. It is also the day for 'Halkhata', where traders open their new ledgers and offer sweets to loyal customers, following the tradition started after Gudi Padwa.
